AFIX, which stands for Assessment, Feedback, Incentive and eXchange, is a quality improvement strategy. It is designed to assist and support healthcare providers in improving their immunization service delivery and immunization rates. Although AFIX has traditionally been conducted to assess immunization delivery to children, several states are now using AFIX to assess adolescent and adult populations as well. AFIX, which is widely supported as an effective and recommended strategy for improving immunization rates, is implemented by immunization program staff. It is conducted with public and private immunization providers across the country. The strategy is endorsed by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and medical professional societies.
If your office is interested in learning more about AFIX or would like an AFIX visit, please contact you state or local AFIX staff. Additional information on AFIX can also be found on the CDC website.
