Resources Available To Educate State Leaders About Vaccine Safety And Other Health Issues

The Council of State Governments (CSG) and their partners - the National Black Caucus of State Legislators and the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators - recently launched a new Healthy States Initiative to assist state leaders in accessing the information they need to make informed decisions on public health issues.

Through the first year of this initiative, they hosted nine Web conferences on public health issues to provide interactive opportunities for public health experts, legislators, and legislative staff.  One of these Web conferences took place in February 2005 and both Betty Bumpers, cofounder of Every Child By Two, and Melinda Wharton of the CDC, presented on the importance of immunizations, immunization registries and vaccine safety.
